Sustainability in organisations has been addressed mainly through technological and managerial approaches. A more recent one has been through change management. Sustainability and organisational change management are highly complex concepts that make organisational change management for sustainability an extremely complex topic to address. This book is aimed at providing clarity through a systemic and systematic approach to organisational change management for sustainability. Chapter “ Sustainable Development and Sustainability ” reviews the sustainable development and sustainability concepts. Chapter “ Organisations, Their System Elements, and Interactions ” provides a discussion on organisations, their system elements, and interactions. Chapter “ Organisations Contributions to Sustainability ” discusses how organisations have been contributing to sustainability. Chapter “ Organisational Change Management for Sustainability ” focuses on organisational change management for sustainability (OCMS). Chapter “ Mechanisms for Sustainability Change in Organisations: Leadership, Governance, and Assessment and Reporting ” presents three mechanisms that have a key role in OCMS. Chapter “ Drivers for Sustainability in Organisations ” focuses on the drivers for sustainability in organisations. Chapter “ Resistance to Sustainability Change in Organisations and Strategies to Overcome It ” discusses resistance to change and how to overcome it. Chapter “ Incorporation and Institutionalisation of Sustainability Changes in Organisations ” focuses on the incorporation and institutionalisation of sustainability in organisations. Chapter “ External Events Impacts on Organisational Change Management for Sustainability ” presents the effects of external stimuli on OCMS. The appendix presents the details and sustainability efforts of four case studies used in the empirical sections of this book.
