Stage 5: Tidy Up for Submission

With academic writing, it is important to appreciate that as a mode of writing, it is quite formal and therefore sets expectations for polished writing that is submitted at a standard that is higher than other forms of communication we use in our daily lives (e.g., texts, social media posts or emails). Bringing polish to your work is actually quite satisfying as you feel happier submitting a piece of work which does justice to your ideas and the work that you have put into writing your assignment. Building in time to present your work well is important and the presentation of written work is often a component of assignment marking schemes in college programmes. This means that by not doing this final stage of work, your assignment may have marks deducted in places where you had opportunities to prevent this from happening.
