摘要

The origins of this book grew out of our experience in student early childhood educator and teacher preparation. Building on years of experience teaching undergraduate students (transitioning from school to college level education or experienced practitioners returning to education), we identified challenges faced by students and lecturers in meeting different aspects of their programme requirements and a need for tailored support. The support required was not always related to academic requirements. It ranged from developing independent writing and reading skills, to managing digital technology to self-management skills (including time management and prioritisation) and engaging in critical thinking. Further to this, we also identified a need for students to develop a greater belief in their ability to learn and to achieve success in their learning and profession. The aim of this book is to provide support, comfort and confidence to students who often doubt their academic ability and to demystify some of the academic aspects of learning so that they can reach their full potential.
