Modern Language Teaching Methodology in Accordance with the Conceptualisation of Language as a Threefold Unity of Linguistic Phenomena

To be suitably qualified to teach a foreign language, one must have a clear understanding of such a complex phenomenon as language. The term language itself, upon careful inspection, appears to refer to rather disparate, albeit closely linked, matters. In our immediate experience it is manifested, on the one hand, by the characteristics of production, namely expressions of our thoughts, feelings, desires, and so on, and on the other hand, by the characteristics of comprehension. It is the former that mainly draw our attention and that are instantly called language.
