Extraconal Tumours
摘要
The extraconal space is a common site of involvement by orbital tumours. These tumours can either occupy the extraconal fat compartment between the recti muscles and peri-orbita, the subperiosteal space or the bony orbit. Subperiosteal approaches to the orbit are well suited to dealing with extraconal lesions as they allow dissection to the site of pathology whilst avoiding orbital fat herniation. Topographical and biomorphological approaches to tumours of the extraconal space assist with the differential diagnosis as well as the surgical approach to these lesions.
