Transorbital Neuroendoscopic Surgery
摘要
Transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery refers to a recently developed field of surgery that provides minimally disruptive access to pathology within or adjacent to the orbit, including the skull base, paranasal sinuses, infratemporal fossa, and brain. This group of approaches is being used internationally by multiple specialties including otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, ophthalmology, and neurological surgery, for an expanding range of pathology. This chapter will provide an introduction to the field including the grounds and logic for its development; the types and techniques of endoscopic approaches that are available; means of surgical planning and choice of pathway; and the landscape of current and developing applications. In addition, suggestions are provided for ways for those who have not yet performed these procedures to establish a team and develop surgical proficiency.
