摘要

In addition to the issue of how to replace appeals to intuition, the correspondence concerning the German translation of Tarski’s truth monograph discusses 28 other issues of translation, most of them minor. TwardowskiTwardowski, Kazimierz raised issues of linguistic correctness; he imposed over Tarski’s well-argued opposition a somewhat archaic style rooted in his nineteenth century Viennese upbringing. AjdukiewiczAjdukiewicz, Kazimierz occasionally suggested changes. The logicians in Vienna whom Tarski consulted objected to various terms and phrases in Blaustein’sBlaustein, Leopold translation. Tarski himself raised legitimate concerns about uniformity across repetitions of a term and about avoidance of syntactic ambiguity.
