The Decision to Translate Tarski’s Truth Monograph into German
摘要
The idea of publishing a German translation of Tarski’s truth monograph came from the Editorial Board of the journal Studia Philosophica, which had been newly founded with the mission of making articles by Polish philosophers available in international languages (English, French or German). The translation almost did not happen, because Tarski professed insufficient knowledge of German to translate the work himself and inability to pay even part of the cost of a professional translation. Although authors were responsible for supplying the translated work themselves, the Editorial Board made an exception in Tarski’s case and paid for the translation of his work from the subsidy for publication of the journal’s first volume.
