Character of the Correspondence

ThisCorrespondence concerning the German translation of Tarski's truth monographcharacter* chapter describes the correspondence concerning the German translation of Tarski’s monograph on truth that is preserved in the archives of the Polish Philosophical SocietyPolish Philosophical Society in Poznań. It consists of 79 items: one letter of Alfred Tarski to the Editorial Board of the journal in which the translation was published, 24 communications from Kazimierz TwardowskiTwardowski, Kazimierz to Tarski, 27 communications from Tarski to TwardowskiTwardowski, Kazimierz, two letters from TwardowskiTwardowski, Kazimierz to Karl PopperPopper, Karl, three communications from PopperPopper, Karl to TwardowskiTwardowski, Kazimierz, and 22 proofs of sending. Almost all the correspondence has been preserved; the dates and content of the missing items (which are mostly postcards and telegrams from Twardowski of which he could not make carbon copies) can be inferred from references to them in what survives. The content of the correspondence is purely academic and the style highly formal.
