The Impact of the Study on Academic and Practice

The overall purpose of this study is to explore how organisational compatibility and resource complementarity guide social enterprises and impact investors to establish partners fit in pursuit of social and economic interests in Nigeria. The study also examines how and what micro and macro institutional factors influence collaboration between SEs and IIs in dyadic relationships in Nigeria. This purpose can also be interpreted as exploring how IIs select SEs to establish partners fit for collective or common interest. The findings in Chaps. 5 , 6 , 7 and 8 have enabled the study to answer the four sub-questions by innovatively integrating the concepts of organisational compatibility from institutional logics and resource complementarity from social exchange theories. These concepts were used to explain how SEs and IIs were guided to establish partner fit to pursue their social and economic interests vis-à-vis the influence of the Nigerian micro- and macro-environmental factors and the perceived learning experience in the process. The overall purpose of this chapter, therefore, is to discuss the main findings in relation to the literature on the partner fit selection process from the dimensions of resource complementarity and organisational compatibility, and the implications of the findings in relation to contribution to theory and practice. Other sections of the chapter provide recommendations, study limitations, research translation, and directions for future study.
