摘要

Climate change is currently one of the major challenges that tourism industry faces due to the fact that it inevitably involves the adjustment of many destinations and tourists to new scenarios. This made us consider some international studies linking urban tourism to climate. The present chapter aims to establish the evolution of the relationship between urban tourism and climate taking into consideration the last 90 years, where these issues began to be analysed. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used for measuring the coverage ratio of urban studies, tourism, weather, and climate (change) in spatial–temporal studies. This review is the first one that focuses on urban areas, seeking to discuss the issues that should concern researchers in the urban areas of recreation and leisure. To help us carry out the study, it was used a database with 80 entries created from an in-depth analysis of international bibliography on urban tourism and climate. This bibliographic study reveals the existence of a lack of articulation between theory and practice, namely in the use of terms related to climate, meteorology, and urban studies. We believe that this study may play an essential role in the development of research while presenting new perspectives regarding the development and application of theories and work implementations for future studies. Based on results obtained, a few implications for research design and managerial implications are discussed.
