Flood Protection Policies

Flood protection policy is an existential cause in the Netherlands. It involves the distribution of flood protection measures as well as the distribution of the costs involved. In this chapter, we articulate who benefits from investments in flood protection, and who pays for them. We then consider which distributive principles we can identify in this type of adaptation policy. We explain how other distributive justice considerations and principles could also have been deployed.
