Introduction

In Cyborg Conception, I consider the growing popularity of solo motherhood via gamete donation and how this type of “cyborg conception” is narrated in medicine, industry, fiction, and memoir. Cyborg Conception combines lived experience with scholarly research to present an overview of the solo motherhood phenomenon. In this introduction I explain the structure of the book and comment on the terminology and framework I will be employing throughout.
