摘要
The purpose of this study is the identification, analysis, assessment and management of cultural potentials in the geospace of the Vlora district in Albania, significantly influencing the development of sustainable and year-round tourism. To achieve this goal, we first focus on collecting data to identify the resources that the area offers, data that we have from previous publications, statistical data from the local and central government, field trips and data presented for the first time in this study. The Vlora region in Albania is a geographical area with many natural and historical-cultural assets. After 1990, the tourism sector in Albania had a growth trend with its own ups and downs, but currently there is an ongoing trend. This article presents results achieved in relation to cultural potentials (historical cities, museum cities, ancient cities, castles, etc.), as they represent the national identity of the population living in these spaces and as such should be appropriately managed and protected. Analyzing the changes that have occurred in the trend of tourists’ requests, the article also gives some suggestions for updating plans and strategies for the sustainable development and management of this geographical space, in the context of historical-cultural tourism.
