摘要
Events have played a significant role in the economic development of regions. The pandemic has caused a disruption in the economy, both locally and globally. The Regueifa and Biscoito Fair is considered the main event of the municipality of Valongo (Portugal). It takes place in the first week of June and aims to showcase and promote the most emblematic aspects of Valongo, with the presence of the main bakeries and Biscoito makers of the municipality. This research seeks to understand the impact that the pandemic has caused in the local economy of the region and to what extent it affected the municipality’s most emblematic event. Methodologically, we conducted a content analysis by examining statistical data before and after the pandemic to understand the differences. We also sought to understand how this event took place during the pandemic period. It was possible to verify that this type of event holds great significance for the local economy. In 2022, this event recorded a more positive economic and social impact than in the pre-pandemic period.
