Understanding the Vietnamese Young Tourists’ Self-image Congruence as Motivations for Their Destination Social Responsibility Towards Circular Economic Development
摘要
This study aims to understand the motivation of young domestic tourists in Vietnam to contribute to the development of the circular economy through their commitment to destination social responsibility. Given the prevalence of social media in today’s society, young tourists can enhance their image value by sharing their destination social responsibility online, potentially influencing the development of the circular economy. A survey of 402 participants was conducted from 15 May to 30 May 2021 to explore this relationship by understanding their motivations for environmental, socio-cultural, and economic responsibility, followed by quantitative analysis to test the study hypotheses. The findings of this study reveal that young domestic tourists in Vietnam consider this benefit as an exchange for service quality, location convenience and price during their travels. This outcome would bring some insights to the tourism policymakers, tourism stakeholders and local government to plan effective strategies, policies, and regulations that support the circular economy development in Vietnam and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
