Yunnan-Fu Station in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, was the starting station of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, which had been demolished. The Yunnan Railway Museum is a replica based on the Yunnan-Fu Station. Since its building entity is no longer the original Yunnan-Fu Station, there have been doubts about its authenticity. This paper intends to start from a broader perspective, based on the theory of spirit of place, to analyze the Yunnan Railway Museum from the aspects of building function, architectural style, content display, and public engagement. The conclusion is that the Yunnan Railway Museum constructs a connection and integration between architecture, history, culture, society, activities, and people, forming a “place” that embodies the spirit of place originating from the Yunnan-Fu Station. It shows people the glorious heritage value of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, establishes people’s identity and collective memory for it, and contributes to local cultural tourism and the economy. Therefore, the reconstruction based on Yunnan-Fu Station can be considered an appropriate choice in the current context.
