摘要

Cheek acupuncture, also known as buccal needle therapy, is an emerging original technique of microneedling developed by the author. Based on our clinical experiences and extensive studies during the past 30 years, the three major theoretical systems, including holography, Da San Jiao, and physical and mental integration, serve as the guiding principles of cheek acupuncture, and the practical system of this technique has been established. Among these, the body, Qi, and spirit are considered the main architecture of life. The efficacy and reliability of this new therapy have been proven in more than 200,000 patients. In particular, an immediate effect of cheek acupuncture treatment has been confirmed against common diseases, including pain (neck, shoulder, back, and limbs), stress, and other subhealth statuses. Importantly, similar efficacy of cheek acupuncture has been observed in both Asian populations and other populations, such as Black and Caucasian populations, according to our clinical practices. This chapter briefly introduces the three major theories of cheek acupuncture, uses coloured illustrations to demonstrate the specific acupoints, and describes the indications, basic acupuncture methods, safety precautions, and application in treating diseases, as well as the latest research on cheek acupuncture and the potential molecular mechanisms of action.
