Cross-Technology Backscatter for Smart Health Monitoring

This chapter discusses in detail how health monitoring applications benefit from backscatter communication and explores the design of a novel cross-technology backscatter scheme called ZigTooth to enable such applications in our daily lives. Section 4.1 introduces a smart health monitoring vision driven by backscatter communication and outlines the motivation of our work. The related work and the background are given in Sects. 4.2 and 4.3, respectively. The detailed detail of ZigTooth is presented in Sect. 4.4. Section 4.5 gives the performance evaluation of our work, followed by the summaries in Sect. 4.6.
