Reliable Backscatter for Remote Physical Condition Monitoring

This chapter provides an in-depth discussion of how remote physical condition monitoring applications benefit from backscatter communication and explores the design of a corresponding backscatter scheme, i.e., IBscatter, to bring such applications into our daily lives. In particular, we depict a scenario of remote physical condition monitoring for children driven by backscatter communication and present IBscatter’s motivation in Sect. 2.1. Section 2.2 presents the related work. IBscatter’s background is given in Sect. 2.3. Section 2.4 illustrates the design details of IBscatter. The experimental results are presented in Sect. 2.5. Finally, Sect. 2.6 summarizes this chapter.
