Other Pathologies of Aortic Valve: Congenital, Acquired, Diagnosis and Treatment Options

In this chapter, conditions that affect the Aortic Valve either congenitally or later are discussed. Degenerative changes in the Aortic Valve, Rheumatic Aortic Valve disease, connective tissue disorders like SLE, cardiomyopathies, Marfan’s syndrome, William’s syndrome, Subaortic membrane, Bicuspid and Quadricuspid Aortic Valve, Calcification of the Aortic Valve, Atherosclerosis of the Aortic Valve are some of the topics discussed in this chapter. The role of Echocardiogram to diagnose these conditions are elaborated. After reading this chapter, the reader will be familiar with the common and uncommon conditions involving the Aortic Valve.
