Systolic Dysfunction, Heart Failure and Echocardiographic Findings, Effect on Ejection Fraction, Treatment Options
摘要
In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the abnormal contractile function of the heart during Systole. The definition of Systolic Dysfunction is explained. What leads to Systolic Dysfunction, the contributory factors, the grades in severity, the hemodynamic changes due to Systolic dysfunction, the role Echocardiography plays in identifying Systolic Dysfunction, the alteration in measurements from normal, the associated pathological conditions, the symptoms and signs the patients present with and the various treatment options are discussed. Also discussed in this chapter, is the topic of Heart Failure, which is the result of Systolic Dysfunction if not treated in time. The AHA classification and the NYHA classification of Heart Failure are mentioned. The causes, the hemodynamic changes, the Echocardiographic findings, the measurements, the associated findings, symptoms and signs and treatment options are discussed.
