Congenital Heart Defects (Other than ASD, VSD): Echocardiographic Findings and Treatment Options

In this chapter, the reader is given information about the Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). Two chapters are already devoted to Atrial Septal Defect and Ventricular Septal Defects (Chaps. 13 and 14 respectively). The ones that are discussed in this chapter are the others. After reading this chapter, the reader will have a good idea about classification and types of CHDs, the causes and the structures affected in each one of them, the hemodynamic changes that these defects cause, the use of Echocardiogram in the diagnostic process, the measurements that become abnormal due to these defects, the associated abnormalities, the symptoms and signs the patients present with and the different treatment options and corrective procedures available and attempted and the outcome of these treatment options. Wherever necessary, schematic diagrams enhance the understanding of the subject.
