Diseases of the Aorta, Coronary Arteries and Pulmonary Arteries

This chapter deals with the arteries that are immediately in contact with the heart namely the Aorta, which conducts the blood from the Left Ventricle, the Main Pulmonary Artery which conducts blood from the Right Ventricle and the Coronary arteries which are the first branches of the Aorta. After reading this chapter, the reader would become knowledgeable about the segments of the Aorta, their significance, the pathology associated with the segments, the Echocardiographic Findings, the symptoms and signs, the hemodynamic changes, the variations in measurement and their usefulness in the diagnostic process, the associated pathology and the treatment options. Similarly, the reader would know about the Pulmonary arteries and the Coronary arteries. Also discussed are the conditions that need prompt attention in pathology of all three entities.
