In this chapter, communication between the Left and Right Atria in Extrauterine Life is discussed. The factors that contribute to this communication are described in detail. The location of this communication and treatment options are elaborated in this chapter. Diagnosing this defect through Echocardiogram and the best views for diagnosing this defect are discussed. The hemodynamic changes caused by this defect and the irreversibility of the condition if left untreated is elucidated. The measurements and their significance are mentioned. The conditions that may accompany this defect are mentioned and discussed. The symptoms that patients present with and the signs that manifest due to this condition are discussed. Lastly, the treatment options to correct this condition are mentioned and described.
