The Realization of a Low-Cost System for Entry into Restricted Areas

In recent years, there has been exponential growth in the research, development, and implementation of wireless technologies, marking a significant paradigm shift in modern connectivity. Widely adopted technologies such as Bluetooth, IrDA (Infrared Data Association), Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity), GSM (global system for mobile communications), NFC (near field communication), and RFID (radio frequency identification) have become integral to daily life. The constant evolution and modification of these technologies stem from the diverse parameters and practical demands that they encounter. This paper deals with designing and implementing an affordable solution for a contactless electronic security system that provides access to restricted areas. Leveraging RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, the system ensures that only authorized users enter designated rooms or objects, thereby fortifying security measures. Notably, the implementation of this solution is achieved through the utilization of the open-source platform “Arduino,” emphasizing a low-cost approach without compromising functionality. The choice of Arduino as the underlying platform showcases the commitment to an accessible and adaptable solution catering to a broad spectrum of applications. By embracing open-source principles, this research contributes to democratizing advanced technologies, making them more readily available for diverse security needs. This paper outlines the theoretical framework and design principles behind the contactless electronic security system and provides practical insights into its realization using Arduino. Through the integration of RFID technology and the Arduino platform, the proposed solution stands as a testament to the feasibility of developing low-cost yet effective systems for secure access to restricted areas, addressing contemporary challenges in security implementation.
