Noether’s Approach to Elasticity

The Second Chapter overviews the classical applications of Noether’s procedures to the elasticity. The elasticity problem has an infinite number of degrees of freedom. The corresponding partial differential equations are of second order. The demonstration is based on a surface-integral representation for the “force on an elastic singularity or inhomogeneity” and energy–momentum tensors in elasticity.
