Optimal Pressured Vessels Made of Isotropic Material

The optimal design of thin-walled shells, loaded by internal pressure is examined in this chapter. The searching of the optimal shape and the thickness is performed for quite arbitrary closed membrane shells made of isotropic materials. The scaling method is appled. The closed form solution of the optimization problem is obtained and corresponding isoperimetric inequality is proved.
