Neopragmatism as a Meta-theory: Philosophical Foundations

  • Olaf Kühne

摘要

Pragmatism arose at the end of the 19th and beginning of the twentieth century in the United States and is particularly associated with the names Charles Sanders Peirce (1839–1914), William James (1842–1910), George Herbert Mead (1863–1931), and John Dewey (1859–1952). Parallel to the ‘linguistic turn’ (Rorty 1992[1967]) in the philosophy of language was the accompanying ‘pragmatic turn’—both reaching beyond the borders of the United States.
