Quasi-ontological Framework: Theory of the Three Worlds to Theory of the Three Landscapes

As various occasions have previously clarified, ‘horizontal geographies’ exhibit a high degree of complicatedness, complexity, and contingency: The same applies to their exploration if there is not to be attempts—as in the essentialist tradition—to destroy contingency, exaggeratingly reduce complexity and, at best, efforts at transforming it into complexity. With the help of Karl Popper’s theory of the three worlds, a quasi-ontological construct is proposed below, with the assistance of whose spaces and landscapes do not appear insufficiently complex, for example, only as substance or constructs, but rather the diversity of conceptual content is structured. The same applies to the possibility of structuring theoretical and methodological approaches on such a basis.
