摘要

Kyphosis is the curvature of the spine in an abnormal matter where the angle is curved to a degree that is more than normal. The curvature has its convexity posteriorly. Kyphosis has several factors that may cause it, some of these factors are traumatic events, congenital malformation, and inflammation. The percentage of people with kyphosis increased as the age group increased. There are several types of kyphosis such as congenital kyphosis, Scheuermann kyphosis, post-laminectomy kyphosis, and others. The main pathology of kyphosis is that the rate of lengthening of the anterior column of the spine is less than the rate of the posterior column because of an insult that happens in any of the types of kyphosis. Kyphosis affects patients primarily by deteriorating their quality of life through numerous symptoms that impede their daily tasks. It also has dreadful effects on the patient’s respiratory system function.
