Ethics of the Professions: Virtues, Vocation and Civil Society

In the age of digitalization, the transformation of professions is accelerating. The changes that have occurred in human activities have a direct impact on the way professional life is understood, trained, managed and led. The aim of this chapter is to analyze these changes from an ethical perspective in order to update the basic concepts of any ethics of the professions. The goods, practices, institutions, virtues and traditional concepts of work ethics need to be updated to respond to the new challenges of management applied to companies, public administrations and institutions in general.
