Floral Morphology and Phenology

摘要

The flower of Rubus acanthophyllos Focke bears five sepals and petals. The calyx is externally tomentose. Petals are glabrous and between 2 and 2.5 cm in length. The sepals bear thorns from the base to the midsection. The style and stamen are glabrous. The flower bears about 40 anthers and close to 50 carpels. The inflorescence is a cyme. Anthers bear cream color when immature and turn white during anther dehiscence. The author observed plants flowering and fruiting at the same time. Plants were observed to produce fruits bearing different developmental stages, and there was a large variation among plants. Rubus acanthophyllos pollen grains are spheroidal with a rugulate-perforate morphology.
