Introduction, Origin, and Distribution
摘要
The Rubus L. genus is the most diverse group within the Rosaceae family, represented by close to 836 species. Colombia is home to 44 Rubus species; however, the total number is likely to increase after thoughtful taxonomic revision, which is needed. Colombia’s blackberries have attracted the attention of several researchers, particularly the cultivated forms. Rubus bogotensis Kunth is a climbing plant that inhabits the montane tropical biome. This plant produces fruit during October–December and vegetative flushes from January to early September. It is native to Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru on the western side of South America. Rubus bogotensis has relevant medicinal uses. Fruits with young shoots have expectorant properties. They are also eaten raw or used to make juice.
