The Use of Force
摘要
Examines Jamaica’s views on the use of force by states in the international system. It sets out the main provisions of Article 2, paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter prohibiting the use of force by States in their international relations against the territorial integrity or political independence of other States, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Charter. This Chapter discusses Jamaica’s stance on the use of force in international relations within the contexts set out by the Charter and under other conditions. Chapter 8 briefly examines five cases of use of force. These include UN action in Haiti and 1994, intervention to save lives, the use of force in the aftermath of 9/11, the Brothers to the Rescue case and the Russian intervention in Ukraine in 2022.
