Introduction
摘要
The conceptualisation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability is a topic of debate, with different levels of action and approaches. Stakeholder theory and institutional theory are important in understanding and bridging the gap between company actions and global goals. The consideration of both theories suggests that responsible practices can be improved through an alignment of interests between stakeholders and the institutional and social context in which they coexist. The book analyses CSR and sustainability strategies from a public–private perspective, addressing the gap between company-level actions and public policies. The first section examines characteristics that affect firm CSR strategies in different sectors, including the stage of the life cycle, certification, ethical behaviour, technological intensity, and location. The second section concentrates on public initiatives that promote CSR, such as regulation, media influence, public–private collaboration, and government participation. The book offers theoretical and practical insights and solutions for various sectors and stakeholders, that are useful for managers, governments, and local communities seeking to enhance collaboration and develop sustainable approaches.
