Components and Thermodynamic Cycles
摘要
AlthoughComponents manyCyclethermodynamic technical components required for the operation of energy conversion processes have previously been discussed, the focus in this chapter is on thermal turbomachinery as well as on heat exchangers. In order to quantify the efficiency of turbine and compressor in steady state operation, the so-called isentropic efficiency is defined. In addition, relevant thermodynamic cycles are presented and discussed. Cyclic processes have also been dealt with in the previous chapters, but mostly in a black-box notation, i.e. the integral balances at the system boundary have been carried out without considering the changes of state internal to the machine. Therefore, the design of these cyclic processes and the connection of the required components is now to be presented. In addition, a distinction is made between clockwise cyclic processes, i.e. thermal engines, and counterclockwise cyclic processes, i.e. cooling machines/heat pumps. This chapter concludes Part I of the book.
