Surveillance Capitalism: The Transformation of Raw Online Data into Valuable Assets by High-Tech Companies—Is AI Governance a Threat or a Solution to Our Privacy Concerns?

  • Mehrdad Kordi

摘要

Surveillance capitalism has emerged as a pivotal concern in the digital age, characterized by the transformation of raw online data into valuable assets by high-tech companies. This phenomenon raises critical questions about privacy, data protection, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI). The intersection of AI governance and privacy concerns presents a complex scenario, where governance could either mitigate or exacerbate privacy issues. This study is actually a review study on the topic of surveillance capitalism, and its main source is the book “The Age of Surveillance Capitalism” by the famous and outstanding professor of Harvard University, Mrs. Shoshana Zuboff, and numerous other articles on this topic. Also, due to the growing concerns about the use of multiple artificial intelligence tools, it examines the challenges in this field, which include ethical, security, privacy, and operational challenges.
