This chapter presents and discusses our data from first language English speakers teaching and lecturing in a variety of countries around the world in a language other than their own, and the one of the country in which they were working. As with the previous chapters this chapter focuses on the role of languages, cultures, and personalities in how these individuals were able to work and transition into their countries of work. The chapter presents data related to languages in terms of its relation to the subject taught and the nature of the language known; its use inside work but related to aspects other than work; its use outside work; and some of what we consider the perceived myths and realities surrounding language. Data related to cultures is presented in terms of outside life and inside work culture. Finally, data related to personalities is presented with the focus being on what facets of personality were perceived as key by the individuals interviewed. Throughout, and as with the previous and subsequent chapter, the chapter highlights and illustrates where language, culture, and personality have played a role together rather than individually.
