Communication in Case of Isolation: The Tribute to the Young People, Distance Learning, Hikikomori and Anorexia Cases

  • Maria Giulia Marini

摘要

This poem is of the first Hikikomori poet in modern literature: Emily Dickinson. After closely examining the biography of Emily Dickinson, one of the greatest poetesses to write about Life, Death and Immortality, the Contemplation of Nature, and about the suffering she endured in such a sophisticated and ironic way, we discover that she was affected by Hikikomori! This mental illness, which was first identified in Japan, is characterized by a “pulling inward,” or willful social isolation. The poetess spent a great deal of her life closed in her room, avoiding contact with the external world.
