“Dialogues of UNESCO Chairs”: The Process and the Method

With the project “Dialogues of UNESCO Chairs: a laboratory of ideas for the world to come”, conceived by the UNESCO Chair in “Mediterranean Cultural Landscapes and Community of Knowledge” of the University of Basilicata, the Italian UNESCO Chairs have begun to interact among themselves as members of a community. We can speak of “Dialogues” as an incubator, an experimental model that has created a network between Italian UNESCO Chairs, exploring participatory methods and processes and implementing a dynamic, open organizational structure based on the criterion of progressive implementation. The experimental model “Dialogues” is an expression of the construction of a network and a community through a bottom-up action, through the activation of a process of self-organization. The “Dialogues” process was fueled by the idea of autopoietic organization, favoring action as process activators, facilitating the participation and horizontality of roles, using the tool of process facilitation. With the “Dialogues” process experiments were carried out on the construction of a “community of knowledge”.
