Porencephaly

It is a rare congenital or acquired brain malformation. It is characterized by cysts or cavities within the brain tissues. This disorder involves insults prenatally resulting in abnormal central nervous system development or acquired after birth from trauma or damage to the brain’s hemispheres. These cysts can press on the brain structures and cause neurological signs and symptoms ranging from mental issues to an increased possibility of death. The management of this disorder is mainly through physical rehabilitation and treating the symptoms like seizures. There is not any definitive treatment for porencephaly till now.
