摘要

When the posterior fossa of the skull fails to develop normally during prenatal development, this condition is known as a posterior fossa malformation. Classification of posterior fossa malformation can either be depending on the size of the posterior fossa and the diameter of the rhombencephalon vesicles and also on how the developed form the rhombencephalon. a further two classification can be made the first one is the chiari malformations the second category is dandy-walker syndrome. Understanding the fourth ventricle embryological development and the cerebellum is crucial for comprehending posterior fossa abnormalities.in posterior fossa malformation there will be a variety of clinical findings including manifestations of different systemic defects and deformities of the central nervous system with various neurological signs and symptoms. When diagnosing children with cerebellar and brainstem abnormalities, neuroimaging is crucial. The characterization of posterior fossa malformations has been improved thanks to contemporary neuroimaging techniques like diffusion tensor imaging, which shows white matter tract anomalies brought on by interrupted or altered axonal path-finding.
