Anticipation: Understanding the Role of Anticipation in Configuring Visions of Education

As a consequence of emerging AI-framed futures and further automation of education, the need to explore a plurality of educational visions becomes more important. A growing body of literature in postdigital research has turned to speculative methods to explore alternative educational futures. However, these methods may lack clarity in how they engage with processes central for envisioning and re-imagining futures. Turning to the discipline of anticipation, this chapter considers the role that anticipatory processes may play when educational futures are being envisioned in postdigital research and in education.
