The Postcolonial Migration from Africa to the West as the Desire for Equality and Negation of Difference

Postcolonial African migration to the West is a protest against the physical and metaphorical sedentarization of the Africans. This chapter discusses how social transformation between the colonizer and colonized (increasing similarity and equality and decreasing differences and gaps) has been contributing to the postcolonial African migration to the West. From the mimetic perspective, what the colonizer hated was not the difference between himself and the colonized but instead the similarity. He did not hate the black color as such but black people. His hatred is implicitly the acceptance of the black’s humanity and equality. The postcolonial African migration to the West is an existentialist struggle for liberty facilitated by social transformation as a result of the decreasing gaps between the colonizer and colonized.
