摘要

This chapter analyzes in detail the political institutions of decision-making as well as the public offices in Classical Athens. A key element of the success of the Athenian political system and the system of public administration was that citizens should have been active in participating in the related processes of running the state institutions. It also explains why most public offices were chosen by lottery, while some (a few) were chosen by appointment instead of lottery.
