摘要

This chapter deals with various important societal issues, such as the relationships between men and women, the social position of women, and who was considered the ideal woman in the Athenian society of the times. It also analyzes which was perceived as the ideal age for marriage between men and women. Furthermore, it also analyzes the roles of metics (alien residents who resided in Athens for work purposes) and slaves and concludes with a critical appraisal regarding the functioning of the social relationships within the Athenian society.
