The Demosthenes Speech on the Crown
摘要
This chapter deals with the famous speech of Demosthenes On the Crown, delivered in 330 BCE, which is considered as a masterpiece of rhetoric art. The chapter revives this discussion, which was again indirectly connected with a permanent Athenian dilemma of the times; adopting a pacifist or war strategy against Macedon. It further explains how public interest was defended through the Athenian political institutions.
