The Athenian Choregos
摘要
This chapter deals with the issue of choregia, an important liturgy undertaken by a rich citizen for the polis. A choregos was responsible for the recruitment, training, maintenance, and costuming of the members of a chorus at a festival. This chapter raises also the intertemporal and key issue of freedom of expression, which was a key element of the democratic ethos of the Athenian polis.
