The Origin of Mind

There is a large consensus today that mind is a natural phenomenon and that mental events are caused by the brain. More precisely, it is widely accepted that mind is caused by higher-level brain processes, such as feelings and instincts, which are produced by lower-level brain processes such as action potentials and neuron firings (Searle 2002). What we need to understand therefore is how the brain causes the mind.
